So it's the last day of this decade and what a whirlwind it has been! There are so many projects, jobs, and adventures to reflect on. In May of 2019, I started my own design company. It's been one of the scariest/ most exhilarating things I've ever done and I'm so excited that I finally did it. To get to this point in life, it took the WHOLE last decade to prepare me for this leap.
I graduated from UCA with a degree in Interior Design in 2009. I jumped into the custom-furniture business by working at Bassett Furniture, designing rooms with the case pieces and upholstery being my main focus. I later worked for Pier 1 where I learned a lot in commercial merchandising and accessories. I worked for Pettus Office Furniture drafting hundreds of cubicles and offices on the computer. I worked for designers, Sandy Sutton in Hot Springs and Debi Davis in Little Rock, where I gained experience in grander projects: big projects that focused on every single detail throughout the entire house. I worked at Hank's Fiiiiiiiiiine Furniture for a few years decorating the gallery store in West Little Rock, which led to decorating quite a few of their other stores within the company. There, I got to work with custom-furniture, accessories, and visual merchandising on a large scale that changed almost every single day. I learned to adapt my style for any look that was needed. I worked for Granite Transformations where I designed kitchens and bathrooms with tile, quartz, and new fixtures.
After learning so much from each of my jobs, I felt it was time to start my own business. I'm no longer bound to a certain product based on what company I work for. I'm no longer limited to how much time I can spend focusing on my clients and their projects. Starting Kelley Kolettis Designs has been a very freeing experience. I now have a team of experts to help in whatever project may come my way.
Many lessons were learned in 2019. I believe this next year will offer many more, but I am excited to learn them. I love what I do. I am so lucky that I get to put my time and effort into something that I love doing. I get to create beautiful spaces for my clients that they will make happy memories in. Whether it be a residential or commercial project you have in mind for 2020, let me help you create a space that represents YOU. You won't regret it.
I hope your new year/ new decade is amazing. Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!
Kelley
